A Look in the Eyes of Resistance documents the live of two Polish Jews, Moshe and Malka Baran, who married after World War II. Their stories depict two very different experience of the Holocaust. In their own ways, they both managed to survive with spirits unbroken. Moshe was a resistance fighter who joined the partisan groups that fought the Germans from the swamps and the forests of Eastern Europe. Malka, on the other hand, was a young girl who spiritually resisted the Nazi’s attempts to destroy her. She did this by escaping to a place in her soul that was safe. Both Moshe and Malka share their stories with a young filmmaker who made the documentary at the age of fifteen.

Message to Young Viewers from the filmmaker
I made this film when I was fifteen years old. One day, shortly after the film premiered in Pittsburgh, a kid in my computer class came up to me. He said, “I saw an article about you in the paper. What was it you did, again?”
Very nonchalantly, I replied, “I made a film on the Holocaust.”
He said, “Oh yeah,” And then… “What’s that?”
How can we never forget.. if we never know?
It is important to me that the young people come hear the Baran’s story as I did. Through them, I confronted an event. in history about which I had previously known little and now…. I will never forget.
